Sree Chamundeswari Nama
Achamath family one of the ancient Nair family has its roots in Mararikulam of Alappuzha district, Kerala, India. The family worships Cahmundi Devi as its family deity. Even from the ancient days, there was a temple dedicated to Goddess Chamundi. Sarpa Devathas were also worshiped.
But as time passed, gradually, the temple was in complete ruins. The worship was practiced under a tree, which was believed to be the abode of the goddess who lost her temple. This situation remained until a decade ago.
The family members thought of reconstructing the temple and Punaprathistha of Devi. As per the instruction given by the Ashtamangalya prsnam held in 2002, a main temple dedicated to Chamundi Devi and other temples dedicated to Upadevathas were constructed. The Sarpathara for Sarpa Devathas were also constructed.
Sarpa prathishta was held in 2004. Chamundi Devi and other Upadevathas prathisthas were held in 2008.
There after, with the blessings of Chavunni Amma, as the deity is called by her devotees, the temple has flourished and all the rites and rituals are being held. Kalasa Pooja is held yearly on the anniversary of the prathishta day.
In order to maintain the purity, sanctity and grandeur of the temple and its premises, now attempts are being made to make a Vriksha sanketham and thereby a Pakshi sanketham. Verity of trees and plants are planted and it adds to the beauty of the place. Different trees attributed to 27 stars (constellations) are planted to bring up a Nakshatra Vanam. Trees attributed to 12 Rasis and Navagrahas are also planted which bring up Rasi Vanam and Navagraha Vanam.
Other than these sacred trees, and plants, different herbs and trees that have medicinal values are also planted. These include Desapushpam, Dsamoolam, Thriphala, Thrikadu etc. They constitute Ayurvanam.
A small pond with blooming lotus adds the beauty of this temple.
